Magellan has Coal Seam Gas (CSG) interests in ATP 613P, ATPA 674P and ATPA 733P which cover the entire coal areas of the Maryborough Basin. Whilst Native Title is being negotiated in the later two permits, two coreholes have been drilled to a total depth of about 600 metres to assess the CSG potential of the Burrum Coal Measures of the Maryborough Basin in ATP 613P. These holes are the first holes to assess the CSG potential of the Maryborough Basin. The Burrum Coal Measures are Cretaceous in age and although younger than the productive coal measures of the Bowen Basin (Permian) and those of the Surat (Jurassic) may have good coal gas qualities.
